Pelvic floor therapy for men addresses dysfunction in the pelvic muscles to improve bladder/bowel control, reduce chronic pain, and enhance sexual function. Through internal/external exams, we create personalized plans featuring manual therapy, diaphragmatic breathing, and targeted exercises to strengthen or relax pelvic muscles.
Pelvic Floor Therapy
for Men in York County
Pelvic Floor Therapy Can Treat:
Urinary issues:
Frequent urges, a weak stream, hesitancy, or dribbling after you go. These aren't just signs of aging or a prostate problem. They're often signs of poor coordination or tension in the pelvic floor muscles.
Bowel issues:
Constipation, straining, or a feeling of incomplete emptying can all be tied to pelvic floor dysfunction affecting coordination during bowel movements.
Erectile dysfunction:
Not all ED is hormonal or vascular. If you're noticing inconsistent erections, difficulty maintaining one, or reduced sensation, your pelvic floor muscles may be affecting blood flow and nerve function directly.
Pelvic pain:
Pain in the perineum, testicles, or penis. Pain with sitting. A deep ache that keeps coming back. Often labeled as Chronic Pelvic Pain Syndrome (CPPS), this is one of the most under-treated conditions in men's health. Pelvic floor therapy is one of the few things that can actually help.
Recovery after surgery:
Urinary leakage and erectile dysfunction after prostatectomy are common. Pelvic floor therapy is considered standard of care for regaining function after prostate surgery. If no one mentioned it to you, we're telling you now.
Athletic performance and core issues:
A lot of guys find us this way. They come in for core weakness, poor stability, or lifting issues and find out the pelvic floor is a key part of their core system they've never trained.
Pain during or after ejaculation:
Sharp or aching pain with ejaculation, or discomfort that lingers after sex, is not normal. It's often linked to an overactive pelvic floor or nerve irritation. It's also very treatable.
Low back, hip, or groin pain:
If traditional PT, chiropractic, or plain old rest haven't solved it, the pelvic floor is often the missing piece. Especially when pain wraps around the hips, sits deep in the groin, or flares with movement or sitting.
Something just doesn't feel right:
Pressure. Heaviness. A vague disconnect in your core or pelvis. You've ruled other things out. This is worth looking into.
What Men Can Expect in a Pelvic Floor Therapy Session with us.
Your first visit is a comprehensive pelvic health evaluation with a full body assessment. We take a detailed history, talk through what you're experiencing, and assess what's actually going on with your body and your pelvic floor muscles.
Treatment is hands-on. Based on your evaluation, your therapist may recommend internal manual therapy as part of your care. Everything is explained before it happens. You're in control throughout.
